A Rare Victorian Novelty Silver Plated Biscuit Tin Modelled as an Ornately Bound Book by Deykin & Sons of Birmingham, the hinged cover with cast 'ribbon' handle and profusely decorated with foliate scrolls in low relief on a textured ground, the spine inscribed Biscuits and featuring chased bands with cast rosette detail, the body also chased to imitate page edges, the interior with additional scroll pierced inner cover, secured with a catch fastener, bearing stamped 'kite' registration mark indicating year of manufacture as 1878 and also bearing stamped D&S manufacturer's mark.
