Rare East India Company Brunswick .703 Type 1 rifle, 30 inch two groove barrel rifled for belted ball, fitted with bayonet bar and fixed rear sight with one folding leaf, back action lock with lion, London proof marks and EIC inspection marks as well as Indian arsenal marks, the ramrod engraved with rack number 224.
One of only 3,800 made between February 1840 and August 1842, (see D. Harding 'Small Arms of the East India Company' Volume 2 pp 176-181). The rifle is accompanied by a copy of Black Powder magazine Summer 2007 with an article on this exact rifle by David Williams.
Section 58 (2) Antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18, age verification will be required if the lot is to be posted out.
