"The Blitz: 1942, Defiant Slogan Seen on Wall of House"
Signed and titled, further inscribed on verso - "I was in Manchester on leave - went to see my friend there - well, what a sight - 'We Can Take It' and victory 'V' painted boldly on wall of a house - how bloody brave and brilliant - what a great heart he or she must have, I stood, mesmorised, looking at this incredible message for several minutes, a passerby said 'With that spirit Adolf's had it!', I had to agree, later I was told the same positive message was on walls in the East End of London and elsewhere...", acrylic on board.

Lowry drawing “A Harassed Mother.” Won in a 1971 raffle, this fascinating piece has since revealed important insights into Lowry’s work and the wider Salford art community of the time, adding unique art historical importance to its appeal.
