* Tom Keating was a famous art restorer and forger who is said to have forged more than 2,000 paintings by over 100 different artists. In 1977 he was arrested and sent to trial. Afterwards ''the public warmed to him, believing him a charming old rogue.'' His works became sought after by collectors and celebrities and remain popular.
