Pair of Derby 'Animal Service' plates circa 1800 attributed to John Brewer, one painted with a snake attacking an ferret in front of the Sphynx within an Egyptian pyramid landscape, the other painted with of a Lion and deer, each with green and gilt borders and painted puce marks, 26cm diameter. Condition report: Both plates have some wear and rubbing, the Egyptian landscape plate has a restored rim chip and a chip to the underside and a stained base crack which is not visible from the face.
