Percussion Great Plains .40 calibre rifle by J. Gurd and Son, with 32.5 inch barrel, faintly engraved J. Gurd and Son, octagonal form with circular turned muzzle fitted with dovetailed front sight and 'buckhorn' rear sight, chequered figured half stock fitted with nickel plated scroll trigger guard, patch box, crescent shape butt plate, and scroll decorative inlay to the cheek rest side of the stock.
