The 'Holy Grail' of all the Dirty Dozen watches, Grana WWW watches fetch the highest hammer prices of all twelve makers at auction. The brand with the lowest production numbers of all, this rare timepiece is often the one that eludes collectors and as such attracts an enduring interest at auction. Producing an estimated 1,000-5,000 timepieces of the total 150,000 Dirty Dozen watches, the Grana timepieces are powered by a cal KF 320 manual wind movement, housed within a 35mm stainless steel case.
The 'Dirty Dozen' watchmakers were Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex. Tasked by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to create timepieces for British troops in World War Two, the Dirty Dozen watches feature a W.W.W' (Watch. Wrist. Waterproof) inscription to case back, broad arrow to dial, black dial, arabic markers, luminous dots and hands within a chrome plated or stainless steel case. Further examples of Grana military timepieces include those with 'A.T.P' standing for 'Army Trade Pattern.' Frequently seen with a cream dial, with Arabic markers and subsidiary dial to 6, these timepieces from World War Two also attract interest at auction and continue to increase in value.
