Musical Instruments

Musical instruments feature as a dedicated section in our Modern Art & Design auctions, held quarterly throughout the year, with free valuations on items you wish to sell. Our sales include guitars, violins, cellos, banjos and other string instruments, alongside trombones, saxophones and concertinas.

Chris Large is our recognised specialist in string instruments. He understands the marketplace and the many factors, a blend of science and art, that make an instrument desirable to collectors, investors or musicians.

Our auctions feature a variety of instruments, including guitars, violins, cellos, banjos and other string instruments, as well as trombones, saxophones and other items of interest to collectors and musicians.

The work shows in unexpected places too. Chris once spotted a Clifford Essex Paragon four-string tenor banjo priced at £25 in a Nantwich charity shop. It came back into our saleroom and made £1,800 for the charity Shelter.
