Noel Harry Leaver A.R.C.A. (1889-1951), The Shambles looking towards York Minster, signed, watercolour over pencil, 35 x 26cm.; 13.75 x 10.25in. * Born in Austwick near Settle, in 1980 studied art at Mechanics Institute Burnley, gaining a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, South Kensington. Taught at Halifax School of Art 1913-1915 until called up for military service. A principal influence in the formation of the Burnley Artists Society (1949-1951).
