A Large and Impressive Victorian Four Poster Bed, with canopy raised on barleytwist columns and elaborately carved headboard bearing central inscription in Sanskrit, this bed having travelled to and back from the British Raj, with further carved detail to lower frame, raised on baluster supports. Accompanied by a note of provenance from Saxon Antiques, Sandbach, stating that this bed, circa 1880, was exported to India at the time of the Raj and was once in use at the British Embassy in Calcutta; also that is was formerly owned by a high ranking Indian official and dedicated with the inscription for his wedding - we cannot substantiate this provenance.
This bed is being offered in situ in a private home within the CW5 postcode, a supervised viewing in person can be arranged if deemed necessary; the bed will need to be dismantled and removed from the property by any successful bidder following the arrangement of an appointment.
