18th century clock by Thomas Gorsuch of Salop.

Second quarter of the 18th century longcase clock by Thomas Gorsuch of Salop (Old English for Shrewsbury)*. Oak case (not associated with the movement) with engaged columns and brass key fitting on the door. The canopy has a carved architrave supported on columns and the arched door of the window frames an arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and cast brass spandrels. There are two subsidiary dials; one for the seconds and one showing the moon phases alongside the days of the month. 8-day two-train movement striking on single bell. Height 208 cm (82in). *See clocks and watches proviso. *A fine maker according to G.H Baillie 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World', Vol. I, 1929, pg 128. Condition report: Some damage to the case. The cornice at the base has come loose and there are other small bits of wood that have come loose.
