An early 19th century marine chronometer by Brockbank & Atkins, London, No. 1167. The three tiered mahogany case with brass carry handles and ivory plaque with the serial no. 1167, the double lid lifts to reveal the brass bevelled chronometer on gimble bracket. The silvered face has both Roman numerals and two subsidiary dials with Arabic numerals and bears the maker's name in cursive. Two-day, chain driven fusee movement with Harrison maintaining power, spring detent escapement and blued helical hairspring. 16.8 x 15.7 x 15.7 cm.
