From the family of the late T.B. Field, a fellow Baptist minister, who had preached with Spurgeon in the past, notably at Cheddar Gorge, Somerset. Field was a local preacher and helped supervise the move of the Crewe Baptist Church from Victoria Street and Underwood Lane to West Street in 1900.
