Sir Robin Philipson RA, PRSA, FRSA, RSW, RGI, DLitt, LLD(1916-1992), Golden Interior, signed on stretcher, with artist's label on verso, oil on canvas, 142 x 112cm.; 56 x 44in. * Was elected to the Society of Scottish Artists in 1948; Royal Scottish Academy in 1962, being president for 10 years from 1973; Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1965; Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts in 1980; in 1981 he was elected RA. Had a major retrospective at Edinburgh College of Art in 1989. Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh and other public galleries hold his work.
