WWII Home Guard training dummy rifle of local interest circa 1940, stamped by the maker William Durose Tunstall Staffordshire, with no moving or working parts, but the correct weight of an SMLE Lee Enfield owing to the cast iron magazine and substantial but plate.
No licence required to buy this lot, purchaser must be over the age of 18.
The company William Durose, was an art blacksmiths and wrought iron gate maker in Tunstall, Stoke On Trent established in 1880 and are known to have traded until 1978. The company made the elaborate Tunstall Park gates in memory of Thomas Peake which are still in existence as well as the Tunstall Library sign in 1901 which truly demonstrates the maker's abilities.
