From the 'Spode Indian Sporting' Series
A Large "Hunting a Buffalo" Soup Tureen, Ladle and Stand by Spode, circa 1830, from the 'Spode Indian Sporting' series, the transfer-printed pattern designed after the illustrations of Samuel Howitt in the monthly publication Wild Sports of the East, the tureen cover and stand both with printed Hunting a Buffalo title, all with printed Spode marks, stand also with impressed mark (tureen, cover and ladle profesionally restored).
Dimensions: Tureen 37cm wide, 25cm high
Private collection, Merseyside, acquired at the Bleak House Sale in Bollington, December 1961.
