John Rigby and Co. 12 bore side by side hammergun, serial number 13771, with snap underlever lock, the 30 inch Damascus barrels engraved Jn. Rigby and Co. 72 St James's Street London and Dublin, finely engraved scrollwork side locks fitted into figured crisply chequered stock with plain escutcheon. The gun was overhauled, rebrowned and blued and reproofed for black powder by William Powell in February 1981 and is accompanied the sales receipt from this work (Vendor's name blanked out) along with a Letter from Rigby's dating the gun to 1872 (Vendor's name blanked out) as well as a receipt, memo and export licence for an earlier owner to ship the gun out of Malay in 1947.
