Circa early 1950s, with black bakelite handset, shaped maple-veneered body, the dial hand-inscribed Ex 443 to label, set with six line switches labelled Royal Servery and Operator Recall to top line, HM Clerks Office, Yeoman, Master of Household, Exch Line 443, Hold Exch. and Ring in red to lower line.
This telephone is identical in design to several still displayed on the Royal Yacht Britannia including a set placed on the writing desk in Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's bedroom; these sets purposefully mimicked those in use at Buckingham Palace for sake of familiarity and ease of use for their Late Majesties.
