Christopher Lawrence, Britannia standard silver Bank of England 300 years commemorative dish, Sheffield 1994, stamped with the Bank’s own mark of Britannia 1694, ‘CNL‘ for Christopher Lawrence, the Sheffield Rose mark, the Britannia mark denoting 958 standard of silver, higher than the sterling standard of 925, and the date letter U for 1994, 11 cm by 9.5 cm, 61g, in original box of issue.
Commissioned by the Directors of the Bank of England to present to staff and pensioners of the bank to commemorate the founding of the Bank of England on the 27th July 1694.

Foreign gold coinage is also strongly represented with many beautiful French and Russian high-grade gold coins as well as gold coins from South Africa and Sweden.
Banknotes are well represented in this sale with a good selection of Bank of England, Isle of Man and Scottish banknotes to include two very rare hand-signed banknotes by the then Chief Cashier - D.H.F. Somerset.
