* Born in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. Studied at Burslem School of Art 1942, then at the Royal College of Art (1948-51) after working for Wedgwood. Later taught at Stoke on Trent College of Art and North Staffordshire Polytechnic (where Head of the Art and Design Faculty). Also worked for various potteries.
