The attribution label attached verso reads: "This picture was purchased at the Sale of Mr G. O. Unna's Pictures in 1912 and described as follows in the catalogue: 'Turner - 156, Lyme Regis'. The Picture is not by Turner but having had it cleaned and subjected to expert advice there is little doubt that the painting is by Copley Fielding, and a very good example of his work"
