Late 20th-century longcase clock

Late 20th-century longcase clock, 8-day movement striking on a single bell, brass arched dial with silvered chapter ring, walnut veneered case of Queen Anne design, door stamped "J. Craven, Nantwich".

John Craven was a well-known clockmaker and antique dealer who lived on the outskirts of Nantwich, he was an active member of Nantwich Museum and encouraged the present collection of clocks, which is now held there, he is known to have made a limited number of longcase clocks, generally for friends and for relations.

Dimensions: with 36cm (14in), depth 24cm (9in), height 174cm (68in)
