Football trophy.

Brass twin handled football trophy cup with detachable lid, 45cm high inscribed Ano (1923), Cooperativa De Periodistas De Barcelona (Barcelona Journalists Union), the trophy is of significant importance to the social history of football in relation to Women's football. In 1921 Len Bridget formed Hanford Ladies and were subsequently referred as Stoke United, having two encounters with the legendary Dick, Kerr Ladies of Preston. Famously in December 1921, the Football Association banned the women's game deeming it unsuitable for females. Len Bridget's repost was the Len Bridget's team of lady footballers are willing to play any women's team in the world for a 50 guinea challenge cup. As a result in September 1923 Stoke Ladies played Les Sportives of Paris twice in Barcelona winning both matches, the trophy cup was presented by Cooperative De Casas Baratas (cheap housing cooperative).
