Early 19th Century 8-Day Longcase Clock

Movement striking on a single bell with false plate engraved 'Jones & Carter', painted arched dial with rolling moon framed by two globes and floral illustrations to each spandrel, black painted Arabic numerals with a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture. All contained in an oak case with mahogany cross-banding and boxwood stringing, The hood with a swan neck pediment surmounted by three brass finials and two brass roundels, arched glazed door flanked by reeded square section columns, the trunk with a shell marquetry door flanked by reeded quartered columns, inlaid box base with chamfered edge raised on bracket feet. Two weights and a pendulum provided.
