A 19th century Russian cloisonné icon of the Virgin and Child. The gilt metal oklad is embellished with cloisonné spandrels and halo encircling the faces of the Madonna and Christ child. Two cloisonné plaques to either side, with unidentified Cyrillic maker's marks (possibly a St. Petersburg maker). Bought back from Russia by the Plotnikof family. 30 x 22cm. In a gilt wood frame.
