Hawkes & Son fanfare trumpet or aida, with pipes for keys C, D, Eb with mouth piece and case, serial 43977 157cm max length
This fanfare is thought to have belonged to Jim Terris, described as 'the finest trumpet player in the British Army'. Jim Terris served during WW1 in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders as a stretcher bearer and was wounded at the Battle of the Somme. The fanfare trumpet is accompanied by a hand written note and typed up copy of an article relating to Jim Terris. The vendor of this instrument discovered the note after the instrument was bought from an estate sale by auction.
