Boys Brigade ‘Glasgow Pattern’ drill rifle, 27inch non working barrel secured by three bands, semi working action, the stock stamped with faint retailer J.S & W.W. Lawton of Glasgow.

This is a training cadet (non firing) ‘rifle’ is loosely based around the Pattern 1853 rifle, was used by The Boys Brigade - which was formed in Glasgow by Sir William Alexander Smith on the 4th October 1883 to develop ‘the advancement of Christ's Kingdom among boys, and the promotion of habits of reverence, discipline, self-respect, and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.’ The boys were drilled and trained with rifles purchased from either ‘J.S. & W.W. Lawson’ or ‘Leckie Graham’s’, both based in Glasgow or ‘James Farquharson & Sons’ of London.
Section 58 (2) Antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence.
