Admiral Sir Richard Strachan (1760 -1828) signed letter dated 3rd July 1805, to the commissioners for His Majesty's Navy Somerset Place ordering 'The usual supply of Tongues for His Majesty's Ship Caesar under my command' one sheet folded, overall size unfolded 22.5 x 33.5cm Admiral Sir Richard Strachan famously engaged four French battleships on the 4th November 1805 at the Cape Ortegal which had escaped from Nelsons fleet at the battle of Trafalgar. The four French ships were captured by Strachan with little loss to British life. Condition report: Generally good with small hole to the centre from the seal, minor damages to the edges.
