Swiss issue Amsler-Millbank Mod.1856/67 10.4mm R/F rifle, 36inch barrel with tangent rear sight, secured by two bands and a nose cap, Vaud Cantonal issue stamping to the barrel and stock, the lock and butt stamped with maker A. Francotte of Liege.
Section 58 (2) Antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18.
Originally made as a percussion muzzle-loader Model 1856 Jaegergewehr by Francotte of Liege. This is a conversion to breechloading using the Swiss breechloading system of Jakob Amsler (gunmaker of Schaffhausen) and the US design of Isaac Millbank: there were two versions of the Millbank-Amsler (in Swiss parlance, this is known as Amsler-Millbank; the earlier version was based on the large bore rifles of the 1840’s (17.8mm) and then those converted with a slightly altered Milbank-Amsler second pattern system in the Swiss Federal calibre of 10.4mm. This is one of the latter, improved model conversions.
