Jacob Kramer (Russian, 1892-1962), Portrait of a young lady, signed, pastel, 37.5 x 31.5cm.; 14.75 x 12.5in. * Born in Klincy, Ukraine, Kramer settled in England, in Leeds in 1900. Attended Manchester School of Art and studied at the School of Art in Leeds in 1908-11 and Slade School of Fine Arts in 1913-14. In 1915 Kramer held his first solo exhibition at Matthews & Brooke, Bradford. In 1960 retrospective exhibition at Leeds City Art Gallery. Later shows included Parkin Gallery in 1973, Belgrave Gallery in 1990 and centenary show at Leeds University Art Gallery. Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum and Tate Gallery hold his work.
