Maritime letter relating to the American War of 1812 written from Lt. J. Nutting on December 10th 1815 to Lt J. Richardson of the Bombay Marine. The letter describes an incident in which the British Naval vessel the Nautilus (on which Hutting served) encountered the Peacock and American sloop of war, despite peace being declared the ships exchanged broadsides, during the combat Nutting's commanding officer Captain Boyce lost his leg.
