* Rachel Strong, was one of the top Irish female artists of her time. Strong, having been an addict to heroin, takes her audience to dark places, portraying an unforgiving view of society and herself. Self-portraits dominated her work partnered with imagery of addiction, corruption and the trials of life on the streets. Strong was muse to partner of 10 years, Graham Knuttel, appearing in the vast majority of Knuttel's work. Rachel Strong's paintings, somewhat derivative of Knuttel, often surpassed his art, in the same way Frida Kahlo's individualism surpassed partner Diego Rivera.
