Family group of medals awarded to the Bates family beginning with A. Bates awarded the Crimea Medal, officially engraved 'A. Bates. Grenadier Gds'; then S. Bates awarded the Egypt Medal 1882-89, officially engraved 'S. Bates.A.B. H.M.S. Minotaur' and the Khedive's Star 1882; then a World War One and World War Two group of eight awarded to 234447 A.E. Bates P.O., R.N. to include 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-20; Victory Medal; 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal and Messina Earthquake Medal 1908 together with corresponding dress miniatures and silver cigarette case engraved to Lieut Albert Bates R.N. on the occasion of his transfer to the Royal Australian Navy, 7th March 1941; and finally a Second World War group of three awarded to Flt. Lt. E.K. Bates R.A.F. to include War Medal 1939-45; Defence Medal and Royal Air Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Elizabeth II, also a cased set of R.A.F. uniform badges and a brass Scots Guards plate engraved to 2692651 R. Cookson and corresponding cap badge.
