Douglas Hills A.R.C.A. (1924-1988), Muscovy Ducks in Snow, signed, with artist's label inscribed on verso, oil on board, 59.5 x 40cm.; 23.5 x 15.75in. * After the war Douglas Hills attended Harrow Art College before winning a scholarship to the Royal College of Art. He then worked as an illustrator and portrait painter. In 1964 he moved with his family to North Wales. Here, living in the foothills of Snowdonia he continued painting portraits and held exhibitions in North Wales and London. In 1969 he was commissioned to paint a portrait of Prince Charles which still hangs in the Mayor's office in Caernarfon.
