Auction: Northern Art, 5th Mar, 2026

Wilson55 Auctioneers is pleased to present its first Specialist Northern Art Sale of 2026, bringing together an exceptional selection of works by many of the North’s most respected and celebrated artists.

The sale features pieces by L.S. Lowry, alongside works by Harold Riley, Geoffrey Key, Arthur Delaney, Maurice Wade, Peter Stanaway, Liam Spencer, William Turner, Reg Gardner, James Lawrence Isherwood, Stuart Walton, Roger Hampson and other significant figures who have shaped Northern British art.

We are particularly proud to offer works from the collection of Professor W.J. Orville Thomas, including the remarkable and seemingly unique L.S. Lowry drawing “A Harassed Mother.” Won in a 1971 raffle, this fascinating piece has since revealed important insights into Lowry’s work and the wider Salford art community of the time, adding unique art historical importance to its appeal.

For those considering consigning, our Art Department offers complimentary auction valuations and expert advice on placing your Northern Art in one of our forthcoming market-leading auctions.
