Military compass formally the property of General Sir Miles Dempsey GBE, KCB, DSO, MC (Commander of the British 2nd Army at D Day) by Martins Birmingham, the leather case dated 1916 and inscribed with initials M.C.D. the compass measures 7cm long. Miles Dempsey served on the Western front in France with the Royal Berkshire Regiment during WW1 following his graduation from Sandhurst in 1915. He was awarded the Military Cross for Bravery. This compass is being sold by the family of General Sir Miles Dempsey.
