Swiss 17.6mm Model 1817/42 Artillery model percussion musket, 33.5inch sighted Spanish form barrel stamped with the number 2078 and Cantonal marks to the breech, birch schutzen style stock with horn forend cap, fitted the steel furniture,
This musket was converted from flintlock during the 1840’s conversion programme; probably Cantonally, since it has a flat hammer. Cantons had considerable leeway early in the century, with many privately made arms being carried, but conforming to Cantonal calibre. Carried by troops of the Cantonal Artillery Park – possibly Bern or Bernese Oberland Artillery park.
Section 58 (2) Antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18.
