Epitomising the elegance of the Art Nouveau design movement, Elizabeth Bonté's jewellery continues to have a timeless allure with collectors. Based in Paris, Bonté specialised in the use of horn to create sinuous and incredibly beautiful pieces well until the 1930s. Drawing inspiration from her peer René Lalique, Bonté meticulously carved and stained horn into exquisite works of art depicting flora, fauna, scenery and insects. Her necklaces, brooches and hair combs frequently feature main decorative panels and are accented with glass, paste, resin and simulated turquoise accents.
Pieces by and attributed to Elizabeth Bonté appear infrequently at auction owing to their rarity and also the delicate nature of these intricate pieces. As such, Elizabeth Bonté jewellery attracts a keen following from interested bidders. Our specialist Fine Jewellery & Watch auctions are held 4 times a year and include the whole spectrum of jewellery, from modern and designer pieces to antique jewels, coloured gemstone jewellery to fine diamond rings. Our department is headed by Liz Bailey who is FGA and DGA qualified, with many years experience in the industry.
