Exciting Furniture Consignment

Large consignment by master carpenter to be offered in March

Featuring in our March Fine Art and furniture auction will be a combined collection of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson furniture. Born in 1876, Robert Thompson was an expert carver and furniture maker working with English oak. He specialised in producing furniture based on 17th-century styles, with his own twist, in his workshop in Kilburn, Yorkshire. He earned the nickname ‘Mouseman’ as each piece after about 1920 was marked with a carved mouse as a mark of quality and craftsmanship, and as a symbol of industry in quiet places. With their clean, simple lines, excellent craftsmanship and classic construction, Mouseman furniture always proves popular at auction.

This collection is comprised of pieces from two different homes in Lancaster and Southport, owned in both cases for over 50 years. It will feature a mixture of smaller pieces, such as Mouseman cheeseboards and side tables, and larger items such as the octagonal dining table shown above.  Our full illustrated auction catalogue will be available on our website from 17th February. For more information please call 01270623878 or email auctions@peterwilson.co.uk.
