Jewellery & Watches Sale

Our Summer Fine Jewellery & Watches Auction was one of our strongest specialist Jewellery & Watches Auctions to date. With a wealth of online bidders from Wilson Live, The-Saleroom and Invaluable, as well as a strong array of commission and phone bidders, it was an exciting sale to host! All sections sold well, with the diamond and gem set jewellery reaching fantastic prices, designer pieces selling to keen collectors and fierce bidding battles to secure our array of sought-after watches. 

Our front cover lot was a breathtaking diamond solitaire ring. Consigned from a local lady, this wonderful piece showcased an old cut diamond weighing approximately 6.50cts. With a beautiful brilliant cut diamond setting and shoulders, this ring attracted lots of attention on view quite rightly, and in the end sold to a lucky Wilson Live bidder for £14,500.

 A beautiful sapphire and diamond 'toi et moi' ring captured the attention of our bidders, and sold for £3,900. Set with an old cut diamond weighing approximately 1.35cts and a natural Basaltic sapphire with no evidence of heat treatment, this sentimental piece sold to a Wilson Live bidder after fierce competition from a telephone line.

Other diamond pieces to impress our bidders included a beautiful old cut diamond trilogy ring, set with stones to represent the past, present and future of a couple. Interest in these rings has soared over the last couple of years, with the three stone ring now being the 'it' ring for engagements. This beautiful example featured well matched old cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.80cts in total and fetched £1,900. A stylish geometric diamond plaque brooch also enticed one lucky bidder, and it sold for £1,600.

Our sale also featured a stunning array of designer jewellery. Our Georg Jensen collection fetched a hammer of £2,000 in total, after attracting international interest. The top selling lot was a beautiful collar designed by Regitze Overgaard for Georg Jensen, selling for £800. Read more about our Georg Jensen selection featuring a wealth of different collaborators featured in the sale in our blog. Elsewhere, a suite of silver Tiffany & Co. jewellery comprising a necklace, bracelet and pair of earrings doubled its estimate to make £400. Our Stuart Devlin lots also sold well, with both an 18ct gold floral bombe ring and a silver egg pendant making £380.

Our selection of Fine Watches also sold exceptionally well. Covered in this auction's selection was something for everyone, from the discerning watch collector, to the introductory pieces, to entire collections of pocket watches, watch parts and even watch boxes! Unsurprisingly, the top selling lot was a fantastic and rare Heuer Autavia 'Jo Siffert' wristwatch. A remarkable piece, with that striking panda dial and in comparatively good condition, phone lines and a number of online bidders battled it out, with the hammer eventually falling at £6,100. But it wasn't just the gents watches to achieve fantastic prices. Our entire selection of ladies Rolex watches sold to lucky bidders. The top selling Rolex featured a beautiful and distinctive floral silver dial, finished off superbly with a diamond set bezel. Other Rolexes included a 1987 piece that fetched £2,500, and two further steel and gold Rolex Datejusts dating from the 1980s and 1960s complete with boxes and papers selling for £1,700 and £1,000 respectively.
