Sales Report

Our March Fine Jewellery & Watches Auction saw the sale of some exceptional timepieces across a wide range of sought-after, rare and prestigious brands. The sale which encompassed watches for ladies and gents included the likes of Audemars Piguet, Breitling, Cartier, Omega, Rolex and countless others. Online, telephone and commission bidders went head to head over three online platforms in this exciting sale. 

The first lot of our Watches offering, and the top-selling piece was a sensational 18ct gold Audemars Piguet watch, reference C12337. Fully diamond set to the dial and bracelet, this eye-catching watch attracted international attention from collectors, and sold to one of our commission bidders for £12,200. Featuring the watchmaker's signature slimline silhouette, bamboo detailing and maker's logo to dial, this rare and sought-after timepiece featured around 6cts of diamonds. This sale featured a fantastic array of Rolex watches in a host of sought-after variations. With examples for him and her, steel, gold and bi-metal, as well as a healthy selection of designs, our Rolex selection attracted a huge amount of attention pre-sale. An 18ct gold Rolex Day-Date wristwatch took the highest hammer, accompanied with stylish Roman numeral hour markers and papers, selling for £8,540.

A gents 18ct gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date wristwatch,circa 2006-7, the circular signed dial with Roman numeral hour markers, date aperture to 3 and day aperture to 12, with fluted bezel and president bracelet, model no. 118235, Z349629, Swiss assay marks, case diameter 36mm, with single spare link and papers. Sold for £8,540. 

 

Elsewhere, a bi-metal Rolex Datejust wristwatch consigned from a local vendor attracted the attention of a number of bidders. Dating to around 2002, and with a beautiful diamond set dial, this wonderfully wearable piece reached £4,026. Other Rolex watches to sell well included a ladies bi-metal Yachtmaster watch, circa 2006-7 that sold for £3,538, and a 1970s steel Oysterdate Precision wristwatch that sold for £1,342. 

 

A gents steel and gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust wristwatch, circa 2002, the circular signed silver tone dial with diamond dot hour markers, date aperture to 3, with fluted bezel and oyster bracelet, model no. 16233, Y213245, case diameter 36mm, with maker's box. Sold for £4,026.

 

The Omega watches also sold well, with a striking stainless steel Planet Ocean watch complete with box and papers fetching £2,318. Other Omegas to sell included a 9ct gold ladies watch fetching £415, and a Omega Seamaster Cosmic watch that reached £390.

With maker's box, booklet and international warranty cards. Sold for £2,318

A stainless steel Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean watch, circa 2006, ref. 22095000, the circular black signed dial with orange arabic quarter markers and baton hour markers, with date aperture to 3 and orange bezel, automatic movement cal. 2500, serial no. 80949140, with stainless steel bracelet and folding clasp, case diameter 43mm. With maker's box, booklet and international warranty cards. Sold for £2,318.

 

Featuring in the sale were a number of examples by watchmakers that very rarely come up for auction. An iconic Bell & Ross BR 03-92 was offered complete with box and paperwork, selling to a discerning bidder for £1,220. A limited edition silver watch by Theo Fabergé, number 6 out of a run of 25, with box, egg presentation case and travel case sold for £2,196. Furthermore, a ladies stainless steel Graham Chronofighter 1695 Lady Moon wristwatch went to one lucky bidder for £1,220. 

 

Bell & Ross watch

A stainless steel Bell & Ross watch, BR 03-92, the circular black signed dial with Arabic and baton hour markers, date aperture to 5, automatic movement, within a stainless steel square shape case with screw detailing, case back numbered BR 03-92-S011715, with black rubber strap, case width 42mm. With maker's box, technical notes booklet and warranty card. Sold for £1,220.
