Bucherer was established in 1888 by Carl F. Bucherer as the first specialist watch and jewellery store in Lucerne. Joined by his sons in the 1920s, the Bucherer business continued to grow, with a partnership with Hans Wilsdorf of Rolex in place since 1924. The 1930s saw an expansion of stores throughout Switzerland, with stores in Paris and Copenhagen following over the years.
One of Europe's largest fine jewellery and watches retailers for over a century, Bucherer has seen and sold some of the finest diamond and gem-set jewellery, pocket watches and wristwatches. As such, pieces retailed by Bucherer are sought-after by collectors as an assurance of quality.
Carl F.Bucherer is one of Switzerland’s leading watch manufacturers, creating exceptional mechanical movements and watches in its own manufacture. Continuing to produce fine timepieces to this day in a limited number each year, these timepieces are infrequently seen at auction and therefore highly popular with bidders. Top prices go to chronographs, pre 1960s early production watches, gold dress watches, limited edition collections and ladies cocktail watches.
In August 2023, Bucherer was acquired by Rolex - a history-making deal that is sure to change the landscape of watch retailing and increase market interest in Carl F. Bucherer timepieces that pre-date this momentous deal.
Wilson 55 holds four dedicated Jewellery & Watches auctions each year and offer a free valuation service, with the options of both in-person valuation apppointments, and a free online valuations service.
